It is 100% Non-Custodial. When you log in via Google, a private key is generated locally in your browser using Web3Auth infrastructure. Neither we (the developers) nor anyone else has access to your key. You are the sole owner of your account.
When you log in socially, we wrap your account in a "Smart Account" (Account Abstraction). This technology allows for advanced features like Gas Sponsorship and enhanced security. Your assets are held in a dedicated smart contract controlled only by you.
If you decide to move to a traditional wallet app, just click the "Export Key" button in the wallet info section. You will receive a private key string that can be imported into MetaMask, Rabby, or any other Ethereum-compatible wallet.
Note: These are two different entities. Your funds are held in your Smart Account (a contract), while the exported private key belongs to its Owner (EOA). To fully migrate, you should use the "Transfer" button in our dashboard to move your balance from the Smart Account to your exported EOA address.
